Dear IPPOSI Members,

MRCG and the Irish Platform for Patients’ Organisations, Science and Industry (IPPOSI) are partnering to host a round table discussion entitled “Towards a National Strategy for Patient Registries”. The meeting is a follow on of work done over the last three years on the subject:

- the Croke Park meeting and subsequent report by IPPOSI in 2008,

- the MRCG’s recent study mapping patient registries in Ireland,

- The DOHC Health Information Bill Consultation (2008/9) / bill scheduled to be published this year

Aim of the meeting

To develop a briefing paper and list of concrete, achievable recommendations on the issue of Patient Registries in Ireland to be used to inform the development of national policy.

Meeting format

Round table seminar of approximately 50 people with short, focussed inputs from key individuals to stimulate discussion and debate. The meeting will produce a report / recommendations paper. Ideal participants in the session will have good knowledge of patient registries and the pertinent issues.
