Irish Platform for Patient Organisations, Science & Industry

The IPPOSI Digital Discussion Series for 2021 continues in November.

For our second digital discussion of 2021 (Tuesday, Nov 2nd, 2021) , we have invited experts in the health data sector to discuss the EU’s health information agenda and the preparedness of Ireland to meet its European commitments.

Saara Malkamäki (Specialist, Health Data 2030, Sitra) will discuss The European Health Data Space (TEHDAS) and the Finnish Connection, and in particular:

  • What work is currently underway at a European level?
  • How are Member States working together?
  • Challenges and successes to date
  • How can Ireland learn from approaches used by other EU countries?

We have also invited Avril Daly (CEO of Retina International), Dr Teresa Maguire (Director of Research Strategy and Funding, Health Research Board) and David Toohey (CEO and Co-founder of Syncrophito) to respond to Saara’s update from their own perspective and to provide insights on where and how the EU agenda will influence their own work. Panellists will also consider Ireland’s approach, as an EU Member State, in health information over the next few years.

Following the presentation and panel response, we will open the floor for a Q&A session where you can ask questions of our panellists.

This event was made possible through a combination of IPPOSI resources and a number of unrestricted grants from the following IPPOSI Industry members: Astellas Pharma Ireland, Pfizer Ireland, and Vertex Pharmaceuticals (Ireland).
