IPPOSI is pleased to announce the official launch of our pilot Patient Capacity Building Programme!
Distinct from our Patient Education Programme, this series of workshops aims to build the capacity, confidence, and leadership skills of the graduates of our education programme, members of the Irish EUPATI National Platform, and our patient members by providing access to inclusive training materials, expert advice, and an online repository of resources.
The Patient Capacity Building Programme has been developed to run for an initial pilot period of 2021-2023 and will consist of short workshops as well as an online repository of resources and materials. The workshops are delivered by external topic experts with the support of IPPOSI staff and are currently hosted online. Once possible, workshops may return to face-to-face or be facilitated as a hybrid meeting.
IPPOSI aims to organise workshops on a variety of topics related to our priority areas of Access to Innovation, Public and Patient Involvement, and Health Information, as well as workshops that help patient advocates learn more about a wide range of technical skills. In 2021, we held workshops to help patient advocates develop skills in podcasting, social media, public affairs, and political communications. IPPOSI plans to host future workshops on topics such as intermediate podcasting, making patient submissions (in partnership with the NCPE), broadcast media, public speaking, communications tools for patient organisations, digital storytelling, and much more!
In addition to the workshops, IPPOSI is creating a bespoke online resource that will provide easy access for our patient members and education programme graduates to tailored content that has been delivered through these workshops, as well as other training initiatives that IPPOSI has privileged access to. Once this resource is developed, IPPOSI members and graduates will be provided with access to these materials in an area of our eLearning website.
Our next capacity-building workshop on the topic of e-Advocacy will be taking place on June 20. This workshop will be hosted by Marie Ennis O’Connor, an internationally recognized keynote speaker, writer, and consultant on global trends in patient engagement, digital health, and participatory medicine
This training programme was made possible by a number of small unrestricted grants from the following IPPOSI Industry Members
Abbvie, Bristol Myers Squibb, GSK, Janssen, Pfizer Ireland, Takeda Pharmaceuticals.
